Custom Bed Frames, Built to Fit Your Room and Your Sleep
A custom bed is a bed frame made to a size, timber finish, and upholstery you choose yourself, rather than picking from fixed factory dimensions. At Cambridge Beds & Furniture, we build custom bed frames for customers across Cambridge, Morrinsville, Hamilton, Te Awamutu, and Matamata — ideal for oversized rooms, tight spaces, sloped ceilings, or anyone who simply can't find their size in a standard range.
What Is a Custom Bed Frame?
Standard bed frames come in fixed sizes: single, king single, double, queen, king, and super king. A custom bed frame changes that. We adjust the length, width, headboard height, or leg style to match your exact measurements, then finish it in the timber stain and fabric you pick. It's the option most people search for when a standard bed size doesn't quite work for their room.
What You Can Customise
- Size and dimensions — non-standard lengths and widths for small rooms, oversized rooms, or awkward layouts
- Timber finish — a range of stain and colour options to match your existing furniture
- Upholstery and fabric — headboard fabric, colour, and padding to suit your bedroom style
- Headboard height and shape — low-profile, tall, or panelled headboards
- Storage options — drawers or a lift-up base built into the frame
- Mattress firmness pairing — we'll match your custom frame with a mattress from x-firm, firm, medium-firm, medium, medium-soft, soft, or x-soft comfort levels
How Our Custom Bed Process Works
- Talk to our team. Call, email, or visit our Morrinsville showroom to describe the size and style you need.
- Confirm your specs. We measure, discuss timber and fabric options, and confirm a price before anything is built.
- Your bed is built. Each frame is made to order, so lead times run longer than an in-stock purchase — we'll give you a realistic timeframe upfront.
- Delivery and setup. We handle delivery and assembly across the Waikato, and can arrange old bed removal at the same time.
Why Order a Custom Bed From Cambridge Beds & Furniture
We're a locally owned Waikato retailer, not a national chain — every custom order is discussed directly with our team, not a call centre. Every custom bed comes with the same 60-Night Comfort Guarantee and warranty backing as our in-stock ranges, and you can spread the cost with Afterpay, or Finance Now. Customers eligible for Work and Income support can also request a WINZ quote for a custom bed order.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a custom bed frame take to make?
Custom bed frames are made to order, so they take longer than buying an in-stock frame. Timeframes depend on the size, timber, and fabric you choose — our team will confirm an exact lead time when you place your order.
Can I get a custom size bed frame if my room has a sloped ceiling or an unusual layout?
Yes. Custom sizing is one of the most common reasons customers come to us — we adjust length, width, and headboard height to fit rooms that standard single, double, queen, king, or super king frames don't suit.
Do custom beds come with the same guarantee as regular stock?
Yes. Custom bed frames are covered by our standard warranty and the 60-Night Comfort Guarantee, the same as our in-stock ranges.
Can I choose my own fabric and timber colour for a custom bed?
Yes. You can select your timber stain and upholstery fabric to match your existing bedroom furniture and decor.
Do you deliver custom beds outside Morrinsville?
Yes. We deliver and assemble custom bed frames across Cambridge, Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Matamata, and the wider Waikato region.
Can I finance a custom bed order?
Yes. Custom bed orders can be paid for using Afterpay, or Finance Now, and WINZ quotes are available for eligible customers.
