What does 3+2+1 or 3+1+1 mean?

These numbers describe the pieces in a lounge suite by how many people each seats:

  • 3+2: a three-seater and a two-seater sofa. Seats five. Example: Woodley.
  • 3+2+1: a three-seater, two-seater and an armchair. Seats six. Examples: Katie, Oxford Brown, Stationary.
  • 3+1+1: a three-seater and two armchairs. Seats five and suits rooms that need seating around a TV. Examples: Maryland, Little Rock, Washington, Moy, Hudson, Arlington, Kingswood Recliner.

Recliner, corner suite or sofa bed?

  • Recliner suites: TV rooms and putting your feet up, Maryland (manual or electric), Kingswood Recliner 3+1+1, Classic recliner
  • Corner suites: Open-plan living and big families, Maryland Corner Suite, Imperial Corner Lounge (grey)

Manual or electric recliner?

A manual recliner uses a lever or a push-back action, costs less and doesn't need a power point. An electric recliner moves with a button, which is easier for older people or anyone with sore joints. It needs to sit near a power socket. We stock the Maryland suite in both versions, so you can compare them.

How do I pick the right size sofa?

  1. Measure the wall or space, and leave about 45 cm between the sofa and the coffee table.
  2. For recliners, allow extra space behind or in front when fully reclined.
  3. Measure doorways, hallways and any tight corners for delivery.
  4. Count who actually sits there every night, not just at Christmas.
