A bed base is the platform your mattress sits on. It holds the mattress off the floor, lets air move underneath, and sets the height of your bed. At Cambridge Beds & Furniture you can buy a bed base on its own from $286, or save by buying it with a mattress as a set. Our bases include the Dreamland Takapuna kitset base, the Dreamland Miramar 2-drawer storage base, and upholstered bases in black, grey and beige.
Do I need a new base with a new mattress?
Not always, but often. If your old base sags, creaks, has broken slats or is more than about ten years old, it will wear your new mattress out faster and can make a good mattress feel wrong. Some mattress warranties also expect the mattress to be used on a suitable base. If your base is solid, flat and the right size, you can keep it and buy the mattress only.

Usually. Most mattresses in our queen, double, king single and super king collections come as "mattress only" or "mattress + base". Buying both together is normally cheaper than buying them separately, and the height and feel are matched.

Morrinsville is about 30 minutes from Hamilton and an easy drive from Te Aroha, Matamata and Cambridge. Despite our name, the showroom is in Morrinsville, not Cambridge.
