A new headboard is one of the cheapest ways to change how a bedroom looks. You keep your existing bed base and mattress and swap only the part everyone sees. We stock about 30 headboards, starting at around $350, including buttoned and tufted designs, clean plain upholstery, and headboards with built-in bookcase storage.

Will a headboard fit my bed base?
Most headboards fit a standard base in the same size, so a queen headboard fits a queen base. Before you buy, check:
- The width of your base (see our bed size guide)
- Whether your base has fixing points for a headboard, or whether the headboard will be wall-mounted or stand behind the base
- The total height, especially under a window or sloping ceiling

What is the best headboard for sitting up in bed?
If you read or watch TV in bed, choose a padded upholstered headboard rather than timber, and look at taller designs so your head rests on fabric, not the wall. Tufted styles such as Tokyo Tufted are comfortable to lean on. Darker or textured fabrics also hide marks better than pale ones.
Headboard, frame or both?
If your base is in good shape, a headboard is the budget option. If the base is worn out or you want a more finished look, a full bed frame may be better value.

Morrinsville is about 30 minutes from Hamilton and an easy drive from Te Aroha, Matamata and Cambridge. Despite our name, the showroom is in Morrinsville, not Cambridge. An upholstered headboard with a plain finish suits a modern room and is easy to keep clean. A tufted headboard, with buttons pressed into the fabric, gives a more classic hotel look and is comfortable to lean on when you read in bed. See both side by side at our Morrinsville showroom.
