In New Zealand, a California king mattress measures 202 x 202 cm. It's a perfect square and the largest mattress size we sell. California king mattresses at Cambridge Beds & Furniture start from $1,860, and California king mattress and base sets start from $2,399. See the full range at our Morrinsville showroom.
Is a California king the biggest bed in NZ?
Among the standard sizes we stock, yes. It is 22 cm wider than a super king (180 x 202 cm) and 35 cm wider than a king (167 x 202 cm). Note that sizes called "California king" differ from country to country. In the United States, for example, a California king is narrower and longer. So if you're buying bedding from an overseas site, check the measurements before you order.
Who is a California king bed for?
- Families who co-sleep or regularly have kids in the bed
- Couples who both like to spread out
- Large main bedrooms where a smaller bed would look lost
You will need a big room: at least about 4 x 4 m is a sensible starting point. Sheets, duvets and protectors also need to be California king size, so budget for new bedding when you upgrade.
What California king mattresses do you have?
Our California king range comes from Slumberzone and includes SleepTime Medium, SleepTime Ultra and Pocket Pillowtop for everyday comfort, Bliss Pro Plush and Bliss Pro Gel, Posture Flex in medium and firm, and premium models such as Spine Serene and Serene Life. Because this is a larger investment, we recommend trying at least two firmness levels in store before you decide.
